This little unicorn hair [or as I lovingly call it the Mulan bun] has been requested frequently on Instagram lately, so I thought I’d share a few of my tips for achieving this easy style!
Start by separating your hair like you would to make a little half up half down ponytail on a little girl!
Instead of automatically adding a ponytail holder, twist your hair all the way to the top.
Wrap the twist around into a bun. Act like you are making a Cinnabon with your hair! Then twist a thin hair tie around the twisted bun.
This is where people send me the most questions. They say “Oh my hair is too long” or it looks weird! Use bobbi pins! Once your hair is in the bun take two sides and tighten it. Just like you are tightening a ponytail. Then take side pieces of the bun and lay them flat with a bobbi pin. You can see my pin below to get a better idea!
See! It is hiding up in there! Essentially, you are just bringing the tall, twisted bun down closer to your scalp by pinning pieces down. You can make this as messy or as clean as you want! The longer your hair the more bobbi pins you need to use.
Spray!
To get more texture out of your bun scrunch a few sections of the bun or pull a few hairs out!
Gloss & go, girl. Gloss & go.

That is so cute but I don’t think I could pull it off!!
I love this hair style (which was a shocker to me!) and I have even tried it out but my hair needs a little texture to look as amazing as yours!
Love it!

I’m not sure if I can pull this off, but I can’t wait to play around with it and see if it works for me!

So pretty, Katey! I’m sure you’ve mentioned this a million times but where did you find your desk? I’ve been searching for a white one that I actually like but have had no luck.
I spot Not Your Mother’s “She’s A Tease”!! :))

I can’t see the pictures on this blog post for some reason! I am using Safari – do I need to use a different browser? I really want to try this hairstyle so let me know what you think could help. 🙂
Hi girl!
I’m sorry! The images are expired. After a few years photographers usually allow their images to expire! 🙁 I wish I could fix it but I don’t own the rights to the photos, photographers do.
Xo,
