My Little Box

SEE, I’M NOT A LIAR!! I know I’ve been telling you all for the past 4 months I would put this apartment on the blog, and it has taken forever. My biggest excuse? Um, decorating is expensive….Seriously. My mom paid for a few things here and there, but I’ve gone sans Lean Cuisine a night or two just to make it exactly how I want. 
One of my favorite decorating secrets is Design Darling. Mackenzie, has a blog and shop that has the BEST little finishing touches for your home. She featured my apartment on her blog, which you can see here! She was such a huge inspiration for me when moving with all of her perfectly cheeky chinoiserie pieces. 
I will break this post up over the next few weeks, but wanted to give you an overview of my home in this one! If you have any questions about where something is from shoot me an e-mail: Kateymcfarlan@gmail.com 🙂

My three tips for surviving a small space?
1. You don’t have to decorate overnight. It’s a process. Never go to one store and load up multiple carts, because then your apartment will look like a Rooms To Go ad or Holiday Inn and you will get sick of it. 
2. If you know you are moving, start saving things you love 4 months in advance. I have a framed George Clooney in my apartment. Seriously. How absurd is that? But when I saw his W cover I knew I had to have it, and saved it. You won’t see that anywhere else. Frame cute cards or textiles you love.  One of my favorite things to think about when decorating is that, “Fashion says ‘me too’ and style says ‘only me.'” Make sure your home says, “This is so and so’s place.” 
3. Keep your bedroom light and clean. I love all white bedding. My apartment has bright pieces all over it, but my bedroom is very light and de-cluttered. It’s easy to move things around if I get tired of them, but keeping my bedroom classic is something that helps me distinguish “I work in the living room.” “I sleep in my bedroom.”
