The berry lip for fall is back. And it is intimidating as ever.
In theory, I get really excited about lipstick. I’ll see plums all over the beauty department at Nordstrom, envision myself wearing them, try on and look in the mirror horrified. I look like a third removed Addams Family member. And I haven’t decided if I’m just too lazy to get a spray tan in the fall or if it is a bit much, so I thought I just couldn’t get on board.
Then I discovered how lady-like pieces can combat the dark lip to balance it out.
When you think of a berry lip you probably think of leather pants and a chunky knit, but a berry lip with a ’60s shift dress and dainty heels is unexpected. It fits my wardrobe mantra: One party edgy. One party girly.
This dress from Rio Ritz boutique is a year-round dress, because you can throw on tights, booties and fur for fall or let it be a little shift in the summer. The muted pinks in it match any skin tone, too!
Do you remember in the movie The Aristocats where Marie says, “Because I’m a lady that’s why” ?
If you don’t watch this. This entire look reminds me of that and I don’t want to take it off. I wore this look Wednesday, I’m wearing it today [Friday] and if Paul won’t laugh at me I’ll probably wear it to church on Sunday.
So if you’re intimidated of the berry lip because you think it is extreme, just throw on some girly prints and feminine heels, because you’re a lady, that’s why!
