His & Her Home Decor

Paul and my dad definitely live by, “Happy Wife. Happy Life.” Every time I ask Paul for input about furniture he says, “Wait…I’m a guy. Why would I care? Am I supposed to care? I just want a TV.” But that definitely doesn’t mean I want him to have to sit on a pink couch or recliner (look here for more recliner sales) to watch it. I want our home to reflect us [even though that may include a few girly coffee table books ;)].
I get a lot of e-mails about decorating for him and her, and if your mister prefers his home to be more masculine it’s definitely not a hard task to incorporate your taste, too! Just remember that second part! I think so many women are selfless and allow their husbands to have their antler, brown leather kingdom and forget to include their taste, as well. Include his brown leather couches, but compromise with a lucite tray on the coffee table.
My biggest tip is to agree on a neutral color palette! Gray and blush. Black and white. Chocolate and taupe. Stick to that! Then incorporate groupings of three when you decorate: one for him, one for her and one gender neutral.
For example: if you are grouping on your coffee table have some antlers for him, a chanel coffee table book for you and a plain white candle for both. Neutrals blend everything so one piece doesn’t stand out more than another.
Spray paint is also your best friend. I have so many little pink vases and accents and spray painting them white is an inexpensive fix to keep your style incorporated.
Depending on whatever neutral palette you go with, I’ve pulled some accents for him and her below!

Enjoy incorporating taste for both in your home! If you have any pieces that both parties agree on, I’d love to know what they are! 🙂
