When you think of yellow and turquoise, your first thought probably isn’t how much it screams fall. I start thinking of spring and my favorite holiday, Easter! So when I saw this dress in NYC my first thought was immediately how much I loved the shape, not how seasonal it was.
And I think this time of year, you’re probably standing in your closet, thinking those exact same thoughts!
“Can I wear white jeans?”
“Is this white top too summer-y?”
“What about a pink dress?”
Repeat after me, “Girl, you can wear it.”
Of course, I believe there are a few rule of thumbs to follow. I wouldn’t wear wedges this time of year, nor linen dresses. I wouldn’t wear a white dress with eyelet details and I wouldn’t wear a ton of Lilly Pulitzer bright prints. However, you don’t have to throw up your turquoise jewelry or soft hues just because temperatures are dropping, you just have to accessorize accordingly!
Because the body of this dress is made to be worn year round [the fabric isn’t married to summer and the long sleeves and drop-wait details suggest you can pair it with tights] I styled it with some fall booties and a leopard clutch. These booties are Sole Society [um duh, cheers to quality and not breaking my bank] and the clutch is one I’ve had for ages but I found a Sole Society dupe for you! This leopard clutch is one I purchased right when I started blogging as a treat for going full-time and I get that the price tag is hefty! I normally wouldn’t spend that much on a clutch either, however, the fact that it’s soft, not structured and a neutral makes it something I reach for consistently. So when I found a dupe for 1/4th of the original price you knew I had to share it!
I’ll pull a few more accessories I love below for warming up a lighter look for fall! Thank you so much for reading!
[Edit: Yes, mustard is totally a fall color! Yellow might not be considered “fall”, but this dress looks super mustard in the photos! I honestly think any color can be a fall color, I just wanted to share that you don’t have to stick to all neutrals and you can definitely whip out turquoise this season as well! Whatever makes you happy! 🙂 ]

Girl living in Florida we do the same thing.. seasonal rules are hard to follow when it’s 80 degrees in September/October! Thankfully my office is cold so I can pretend it’s fall indoors haha.

I remember you said you left this clutch in Hawaii on your honeymoon and were so upset. I would be too! Did you get a replacement ?
Ugh yes!! I was so sad! My mom was sweet and replaced it for me as a gift during the Shopbop sale!

I actually think the color of this dress is very fall! Mustard and cognac are a great pair for this time of year! The turquoise necklace really makes this outfit pop!
