Do you change up your makeup with the seasons? While I like to keep some items permanent {I’m looking at you, Tom Ford Bronzer}, I like to update things according to the weather! For summer, I’m all about more sunscreen, tinted moisturizer, gel products and a bronze finish.
Today I’m taking you along to get ready with me as I share my step-by-step routine for summer. Let’s dig into our makeup bags!
Also make note, while you refill your makeup bag as we head into summer, don’t forget Nordstrom’s gifts with purchase here! Many top beauty brands supply you with a free gift per specific order. If you love Clinique, Bobbi Brown, MAC, etc. don’t forget that while you shop!
Before I start my makeup, I prep my skin. To finish my morning skincare routine, I use my TULA Gel Moisturizer. This is an oil-free formula that keeps skin hydrated for 72 hours, and I personally love it as a makeup primer thanks to the rice water in it!
My new brand-obsession is Supergoop! I purchased one product in April and now I’m on my 5th purchase in a month. Everything I have tried has been amazing, and this sunscreen serum is no exception. It’s important to wear sunscreen daily {and touch up!} and I find it a lot easier to do that when your sun protection just feels like a thin layer of moisturizer. This doesn’t leave you greasy or with blemishes. My face is very sensitive to sunscreens and most break my face out, this doesn’t. It’s got a great texture that doesn’t interfere with makeup application as it is a serum that also combats premature aging.
For brows, I use the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil. Like the name suggests, this pencil is nice because you don’t have to spend 5 minutes perfecting your brows. It’s not too waxy or dry. After I do my brows, I prime my lids with this.
I always feel a bit nostalgic when I make a Bobbi Brown purchase. My mom only wore Bobbi Brown for 20+ years and so when I see their “Bone” or “Rich Brown” shadows in store I think of her. It was the first brand of makeup I was “allowed” to wear and where I got my first makeup lesson! I like that her products are buildable, so you can still get the hues you want with a summer pigmentation. I love bronze eyeshadows, but sometimes they can be a little too dark for summer and that isn’t the case for these.
Shades left to right: Bone, Camel, Allspice // Palette
For this look, I apply “Bone” all over my lid and brow bone. Then I put the shade “Camel” in my crease. To finish, I dip my finger {I know! I know!} into “Allspice” and smudge it out in the center of my lid. It takes 30 seconds to do the entire lid- which is so nice!
For summer, I like gel-based products wherever I can incorporate them {moisturizer and liner} because if the humidity causes anything to melt or smudges it looks like you planned that. The gel liner just melts into your shadow and gives you the prettiest daytime smokey-eye. For my liner, I just line my top lid with Sigma Gel Liner in “Wicked.” I apply my liner with the Sigma E21 Smudge Brush.
After eyes, it’s time for foundation. For summer, I have been trying out the YSL Touche Eclat All-In-One Glow I purchased at the Nordstrom Trend Beauty Event for my TULA event! This is a tinted moisturizer that has SPF 23 in it. I’m shade B30. I’m honestly between B20 and B30, but I went with B30 because it matches me perfectly when I have self-tanner on! Now this is a tinted moisturizer and doesn’t have a TON of coverage, but you could definitely set everything with powder if you prefer.
For undereye concealer, I like the RMS Un-Cover Up in shade “000.” This is a natural beauty product that covers fabulously AND melts into your skin, so you don’t have anything too heavy for summer.
I’ve tried other bronzers the past few months. NOPE! Tom Ford Bronzer in shade “Gold Dust” is here to stay! I brush my bronzer “up” with this NARS brush. Now, I know this is a much pricier bronzer, however, I have used it daily since early last December. I haven’t even made it half-way through the pan- and this is the smaller size of his bronzer. I truly believe one bronzer will last me the entire year, so that’s $5 a month for bronzer.
I really love each Lorac beauty product I try, so I’m surprised I don’t buy it more often! For spring and summer, I’ve been digging into the blush in the shade “Prism.” This is a buildable product with a ton of pigment at first swatch, so you just dab a little on your cheeks.
For highlighter, I use Bobbi Brown Highlighter in “Pink Glow.” {exact product sold out!} Another summer favorite is this highlighting quad by RMS Beauty.
With my lips, I line them in Stila Pink Moscato Liner {HOW many of these have I gone through?! lol!} and then I top with Too Faced Natural Nudes Lipstick in “Strip Search.” I also like this gloss by Kopari if I want something shinier for the day.
Out of habit, I always do my mascara last! I’m currently using this mascara by Too Faced- it’s one I’ve used for years on rotation.
This is another Supergoop! product I’m all heart-eyed for! This is their rosemary makeup setting mist that has SPF 50. I bring this huge bottle in my purse and spray incessantly. I spray my friends. I spray myself. Everyone gets a spray! It smells so good and feels refreshing and my makeup has no issue with melting in the humidity.
And that my friends is the routine! I’ll link everything below so you can browse! Do you change your makeup routine in the summer?

The superfood pray sounds amazing. It’s always a pain to reapply SPF in the day since I don’t want to ruin my makeup – problem solved! I also love that atom Ford bronzer. My makeup artist used it on me for my wedding makeup and it was so beautiful!
