A Dress that Looks Designer

The Details

Dress {Runs large if in between sizes, wearing size 0} | Photography by: Angie Garcia

My job always feels so trivial in the wake of natural disasters, but I do always want to keep things light here for whoever needs a bright spot in their day. I wanted to take this moment and say that my thoughts and prayers are with anyone who’s family or homes were affected by Hurricane Florence. We have family in South Carolina, so it was definitely nerve-wracking to watch coverage all last week and see images online. Please know my family is praying for yours!

I’ve pleaded guilty to it before and I’ll plead guilty to it again, I know that as a blogger we use the term “versatile” quite a bit! A versatile blouse here, a versatile jacket there…and you’re left thinking, “Am I supposed to wear everything weekly?!

And so I’m going to try to not say versatile too much in this post, but it is a lace number I’ve managed to style 3 out of 4 seasons if that tells you anything! After wearing this dress at least twice a month for almost a year, I decided it was high time to talk about it. While I wouldn’t call this dress inexpensive {it isn’t under $100} it is a much more attainable price compared to similar styles. Many lace dresses I’ve seen at department stores run somewhere between $200 and $600, so the price of this dress is what initially drew me in. However, the quality is incredible and never once have I thought, “Oh I wish the fabric were different or I wish this was changed.” I’ve worn it with white sneakers and a jean jacket to go shopping, I’ve thrown a moto jacket over it for date night, and I’ve worn it with a sassy high ponytail to a wedding. If you are in between sizes, I would say to go down a size. I ordered a 0 and I’m generally a 0 or 2 in pieces and I am 5’3″.

I call this a “grab and go” dress because if you forgot to get something for a bridal shower, wedding, or charity function, you can throw this on and accessorize to fit the dress code. Shop it here.

To chat about the weekend, I thought I’d share my “high and low.” Did anyone else do this growing up? My dad would always have us share our highs and lows at the dinner table and it gets everyone talking.

High of Weekend: I think I’d have to go with just enjoying our first tailgate of the season! One of my girlfriends came in from Arkansas, so it was great to see her, and just spend Saturday afternoon and evening with family.

Low of Weekend: Although she is 19 months, I’m thinking Maxi is maybe going through an 18-month sleep regression. I’m not sure what I need to tweak, but she is getting up at 5 a.m. the past week and has been cutting her nap from nearly 2.5 hours to maybe 15 minutes. I’ve tried moving bedtime up and moving it later, and the same with naps- so I’m stumped! Did your kids do this? She was getting up at 7, napping from 12:30-2:45, then going to bed at 7. Now it’s like up at 5, yesterday she never napped {except for 10 minutes in a stroller ride while trying to get her to sleep}, and then she went to sleep at 7. Everything I’m seeing says regressions….ay yi yi!

What was the high and low of your weekend?!

  4. I rarely wear lace dresses myself (a bit too girly for me!) but every girl should have at least one lace dress just in case. I’d get a black one! 🙂

I’m glad you enjoyed your weekend tailgating. It’s always nice to spend time with friends and family!

My high was celebrating my bff’s 30th birthday at a vineyard in Nashville. We had so much fun chatting and drinking wine and taking pictures.

My low was losing my fav Gucci sunnies at said vineyard. LOL guess i’ve learned my lesson on drink and accessorizing!

Thanks for another fun post, Katey. They always make my day!

I love this dress since the first time I saw it on your blog! My high this weekend was my family and I made it safely through this hurricane. I’m so grateful. The low: knowing some of my fellow North Carolinians are still feeling the effects of this devastating storm due to severe flooding and tornadoes since Saturday.

Absolutely!! It is so devastating to see the power of these storms and to know that even when the news coverage stops, the effects aren’t gone for years. 🙁 xx, Katey
