Bolster Pillow | Chrome Pillows | Master Bedroom Tour | photography by: Angie Garcia
I have an serious unhealthy throw pillow obsession. Some people can’t pass a coffee shop without grabbing a cup. Other girls justify eyeshadow palettes even when they know they have the same shades at home. Me? I’m always one throw pillow away from changing the entire feel of my home…which I then assume will change my life. 😉
I wanted to do a post on my home pillows today as I get lots of questions in regards to sizing and how I select the fabrics and patterns.
I have purchased my pillows from Little Design Co. all these years {no, this isn’t sponsored} for a few reasons!
- Their Fabrics Hold Up Well | Before Maxi, I worked from home. Now, I still work from home and am home with a toddler all day. I would say I’m a bit “harder” on our furniture and home pieces than someone that maybe isn’t in their home all day. With a toddler eating snacks on the sofa and hiding a crayon behind a pillow or two, our soft fabrics get used and abused from time to time. Y’all also know I don’t shy away from self-tanner. 😉 In the 4-5 years I’ve used these pillows, I’ve only stained one from Peaches and my Folex stain remover got the stain out. Her fabrics are extremely high quality and last. I actually bought some pillows from a different boutique that cost more and Peaches stained/ruined them with her paws within two months. Lesson learned. I’m a repeat customer because I know my family doesn’t have to be careful with these pillows, even though they are so beautiful.
- Little Design Co. Has a Fab Eye | Their company has a true eye for interior design. Before I make a big purchase, I’ll e-mail them a picture of the room and tell them the look I’m going for. I’ll say something like, “I’m thinking 2 leopard print and 2 green pillows. What do y’all think?” They’ll make suggestions and swap out sizing and help me make those decisions. I actually first purchased from them off Etsy because I had asked a question about their pillows in my apartment and they gave such a thorough response, I was hooked!
- Their Branding | This may seem like such a silly reason to be obsessed with their shop, but their branding is phenomenal. Their Instagram Account is one of my FAVORITES to follow for interior design. I joke that I need to unfollow them every now and then {but I could never!} because I screenshot each and every look and want to redecorate my space. But that is the nice thing about pillows. They completely transform the look of your space. Have a sofa you aren’t keen on, but don’t want to get rid of just yet? Add two new throw pillows. You’ve basically got a new sofa. But go follow them because you’ll get sucked down the rabbit hole, too!
Let’s Talk Sizing
On Instagram girls always ask about the size I get for my LDC pillows.
Bed
In our master, I just bought the new chrome pillows and bolster! I know all the shops that has the best pillows for sale. I had this on my to-do list as I wasn’t 100% committed to the standard shams we had, but I’d shared on Instagram before I wasn’t sure what direction I wanted to go in. That’s why I waited! We had a really exciting shoot last week and so naturally, that lit a fire under my purchase. I e-mailed LDC and asked what I should do! They brought down the color from art above the bed with chrome 22×22 pillows. Then they carried the fabric from our drapes to the bolster and the bolster is 48″. We have a queen-size bed.
Sofa
I typically stick with 22×22 on our sofas as well, but for loveseats or small side chairs, I like the 18×18 size. I’ve had all the sizes, but our leather sofa now is SO long that I prefer the 22×22 to soften up the look.
The Trick
I get my inserts from LDC, but the trick is to get down feather inserts that are one size up from the covers you purchase! So if you get a 22×22 pillow get a 24×24 insert. That’s going to allow you to get the perfect karate-chop look. ha!
Because these are such fabulous pillows, if you have sizing questions I would definitely e-mail their customer service before your order as your sizing needs could be different based on the size of your room. For example, with my sister’s apartment, I got her 18×18 pillows for her bed because she used Euro and standard shams and then added the LDC pillows for accent pillows. I got the 22×22 because I used them to replace my standard shams.
I hope this helps answer those questions on our pillows! Are you pillow obsessed like I am?!
