Sweater {wearing size small} | Jeans | Earrings | Belt | Maxi’s Dress | Lipstick | In partnership with Nordstrom. All purchases and opinions are my own!
It’s that time of year where I can’t stay off Pinterest looking at fall to-do lists and bucket lists! One thing I typically notice is that most of them can’t always be accomplished based on where we live. Hayrides, apple picking, and apple cider donuts aren’t all too common in our current 97 degrees! Don’t get me wrong, they exist where we live of course, but it’s just not something we can do around September 30th. But my home is decorated for fall and my wardrobe is getting ready because pretty soon {I have faith!} it will be cool and crisp enough for fall looks.
While I am on pins and needles for a cold front, I wanted to share a few things you can do to make your wardrobe and home feel a bit more fall. I remember in high school this time of year, my mom would always remind me to dress for the season and I’ve followed suit in that. I set aside my tops that feel more spring and summer, and look for everything fall-forward. I’m partnering with Nordstrom today because if there is one place I consistently grab my fall sweaters and denim, I do at Nordstrom.
Find Your Everyday Sweater
This sweater is part of Rachel Parcell’s latest collection at Nordstrom. I’m so pleased with the style I have it in both color options. It’s a fitted sweater that is also thin so you can tuck it in skirts and denim, but the ruffles make it a bit more feminine. I would size up for the fit. For a Texas fall, it’s the perfect weight of material since it isn’t chunky and you can also layer a light jacket over it. While a black sweater is extremely versatile, I like that the ruffle detailing on this makes it anything but a bland neutral. I get a little tiresome of all the regular neutrals we will see over these upcoming months and this feels like a feminine and fresh take on a wardrobe staple. This collection from Rachel is by far my favorite she has ever done and while I’ve already done a try-on haul with a few of the pieces, I do think it deserves repeating. If you need some workwear for fall, don’t skip this collection, either. She outdid herself with gorgeous pants and blazers. I’ll pull some pieces below so you can see for yourself just what fabulous designs have popped up at Nordstrom from her collection. I appreciate that she incorporated so many blush hues in a fall collection, which makes the girly girl in me thrilled.
Another way to get away with your everyday fall sweater when it’s still a little warm outside is to find a great pair of cropped black denim. These fit true to size and can be styled now with fitted tees and turtlenecks later this month. Unsure of how to style booties with them? Try a pointed-toe bootie. The pointed-toe bootie pairs perfectly with cropped denim since the juxtaposition of shape is so obvious!
Make Spooky Grahams
Gingerbread houses are far too difficult in my opinion. 😉 I can hardly get the roof to stay on with the icing! I know some people say the trick is hot glue, right?! This fall, I am making Spooky Grahams with Maxi! Grab some graham crackers and Halloween-inspired candies and toppings. I got some bat candies, orange and white sprinkles, yogurt pretzels, and more. I used regular icing as a base for the crackers, but you could get vanilla bean hummus from your grocery store for a healthier option. I am going to try that next since that practically tastes like a dessert!
Add Essential Oils
I use essential oils the most in the fall! From warding off germs to keeping my home feeling cozy, my diffuser is always going on the kitchen counter. If you don’t have a diffuser, find one that you love with your home decor and you’ll be reaching for it more often. Currently, I’m diffusing orange, cinnamon bark, and clove on my kitchen counter.
Treat Yourself to a Cozy Throw
My Barefoot Dreams blanket from Nordstrom is finally in stock! This sold out a few times during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but they are back for fall. Maxi sleeps with one, and I have one around me all the time at home. I’m writing this blog post under one- ha! These also wash so well as I wash ours at least once a week.
Rotate Your Seasonal Makeup
At the end of seasons, I can easily get in a makeup or hair “funk.” In the fall I like to do a bit of a melt with my hair to give it a break and then I’ll do a deeper lip. This fall, I’m thinking my go-to will be Estée Lauder Burnt Raisin. It is the lipstick I’m wearing in these photos. It’s an easy-to-apply matte lipstick that isn’t too drying. With all the neutral sweaters you find yourself wearing over fall and winter, it’s nice to have a pop of something on your lips!
If fall is in full force where you live, here are a few other pieces from Nordstrom that I love for the current season.
Is there anything you are enjoying in your home or wardrobe for fall?!
Awww, the cutest photos! And a great list of stay-at-home activities too! I like the sound of making spooky grahams! ❤️✨
