I really do cringe at the term “need” when it comes to wardrobe items. So let me go ahead and say, you don’t NEED this vest {although it worked in the blog title} but it will make dressing in that transition period 100x easier. 😉 Okay, fine. You need it!
You know the transition period where you’re trying to make fall happen, but it’s not actually happening. My mom was big on dressing seasonally with temperature in mind. In Texas, you could easily wear flip-flops through November. Does that mean you want to? In Gigi’s opinion, no. {Don’t tell her I sometimes do!} And so as we try to make fall happen in those end-of-September days, you need a few little magical transition pieces that can mix into your summer wardrobe. You’ll look seasonally appropriate, while not sweating every last layer of foundation off.
This vest is the perfect example of that! I styled it over a white dress I shared back in March because you probably have something just like this in your closet. But pair it over an oversized button-up blouse and cropped denim. Throw it on over a bralette and boyfriend jeans for date night. Pair it with your favorite leather skirt. Your options are endless and if tan isn’t your favorite hue, they’ve got plenty of other options. This may seem trendy to you, but it’s $22 on Amazon so it’s an item that you won’t have buyer’s remorse on. In fact, after styling it for the blog I’m waiting not so patiently to wear it.
You know if I saw just the vest I might not be sure how I felt about it, but it is SO CUTE the way you styled it!! How darling!

Obsessed with this look! AND on Amazon?! Ordering right now, thanks for the great idea 🙂
Yay! I’m so glad you love it!! xx, K
What a fun and easy look!
Thank you so much!!
Oh Katey! I just love the white dress you’re wearing with the vest. Where is this dress from?
Hi Crislyn! It’s from Shop Noble, but I believe it is sold out. 🙁 Part of their spring collection!
I agree with your mom – I am a total seasonal dresser! Living in NY, the fall definitely turns cooler quicker, so instead of sneakers, as I shamelessly ordered both the sweater and the t-shirt dress, I will be probably pairing mine with brown boots – might also order the black sweater for winter with some leggings … such a cute style!!
