For the days your baby wakes up at 5 a.m. For the days you have 18 errands to run and don’t need to be getting in and out of your car in a dress, which honestly feels as frivolous as a ballgown when you are running around nonstop. For the days you need to pop in a coffee shop to meet a friend, but then go home and work around the house. For the days you are just T.I.R.E.D. and it doesn’t matter how you look at it, jeans and a tee aren’t comfortable all the time.
I mean, I can keep going and explain to you all why I think Athleisure is a necessary wardrobe department, but I think you all agree with me.
I’m all about “dress well, test well” in the sense that if you look good, you feel really good. But that does NOT mean you have to wear a pencil skirt to grocery shop. There is a time and place for everything and I really believe that a few tricks can help your athleisure uniform work more often than not.
Tricks for my Fall Athleisure Uniform
Pick Hair or Makeup or Both.
You don’t have to be dolled up while wearing athleisure, but I find that if I style my hair I feel a little more confident rocking my comfortable ensemble. Want to rock a dirty-hair top knot? I support you, girlfriend! I’d throw on a CC Cream, mascara, and gloss, too. It’s amazing how different I feel if I’m in a top knot, no makeup, and athleisure, versus styled hair, no makeup, and athleisure. Find the balance that works for you, but whatever combination gives you confidence is a huge trick in my book.
Add Color.
It’s so easy for me to reach for an all-black or neutral athleisure look. But I think one key difference for me between workout wear and athleisure, is that I want my look to feel a bit more stylish than practical for the gym. I bought this cropped Nike sweater from EBay and love the pink hue! I wore it to take Maxi to the Dallas Arboretum pumpkin patch and I didn’t feel like I had just come from the gym.
Grab a Stylish Sneaker.
I remember 8 years ago not putting much thought into sneakers. I’d have a pair for the gym and that was that. Now? I live for a stylish sneaker. Send me any outfit and I can justify a sneaker for it. Maybe I’ve just gotten inspired from the street style I’ve seen at Fashion Week {girls will rock full skirts and sneaks!} or maybe I’ve just gotten more practical, but I think a cute sneaker will get worn far more than heels ever will. The past few months alone, I’ve purchased three different pairs of sneakers from eBay. Y’all always ask about these silver Reebok and then I got my sister and I a matching pair of Nikes.
Here is how I shop for sneakers on eBay:
- If I’m just browsing with no specific style in mind, I go to the Fashion Homepage for a little inspiration and then let the rabbit hole do its thing- ha!
- If I know a specific style I saw on Pinterest or Instagram, I’ll type it in the search bar and get really specific with the filters. I set my condition to “New” and then buying format to “Buy It Now.” Then I will set the guaranteed delivery timeframe to what I prefer. 81% of merchandise there is sold as new and “Buy it Now” so don’t worry, you’ll have a TON to dig through!
So whether you are chasing a toddler like me or chasing coffee as you study for your test, try a trend at eBay!
Your outfit looks super comfy, Katey – I love the sweater so much! Great tips as well! 🙂
