I splurged on some Rockstuds a few weeks ago and I was nervous. I had purchased the flats before and had to sell them after a year because in the 5 times I had worn them I had gotten the absolute worst blisters. And I’m not talking, “Oh I got a blister. I need to break them in.” I’m talking “I was legitmately concerned for my health” kind of blisters. How could such an overpriced flat make my feet look like I went to Fight Club with Brad Pitt?!

I wanted a fall heel that I could pair with boyfriend jeans so I’d feel a bit more feminine and not as baggy and I was between these and some Manolo Blahniks. While those are still on my wish list, I am SO glad I got these instead! You can’t run errands in Manolos. You can run errands in Valentino Rockstuds. These feel how the flats should have felt. They are so comfortable and that’s a really big deal to me when it comes to an every day heel. When I have my meetings they are normally in Dallas and I make a day of it. I head out, have 4-5 meetings back to back and go pick up pieces for shoots or see friends in between. I’m on my feet all day and there have been one too many times I’ve had to slip into flats for the rest of the day because of my heels being uncomfortable. Then I feel like an awkward preteen that had to dress up for some presentation at school. Business up top. Disney walking shoes on the bottom. #notcute

So while I know these shoes aren’t groundbreaking and have been out for years, if you were curious on the investment side those are my two little cents! I’ll definitely be repurchasing in a different shade before I even get a different pair of heels.

Now that we are into September we start dressing for the season! If it is still warm where you live this light sweater from Chicwish is so great for layering! I just put a simple white tee under mine, but you can do something different and even pair it with cut off shorts! Chicwish actually has a lot of layering sweaters and I stare at the them all year and have never picked up any until now! I’ll share the ones I’m loving below!

If you’re still torn on the rock studs there are so many great heels that are similar and have the same structure I will pull, too!

I hope you all have a great rest of your week! I’m shooting our home today and while it won’t be on the blog for some time, it means our house is pretty much finished being decorated! I’m so excited and Paul is too because we get to move on to designing our backyard and landscape. Having an older home means we ALWAYS have projects, like fixing leaks, repainting walls, or even taking on bigger tasks to upgrade your garage. I definitely wouldn’t trade it for anything because our neighborhood is perfect. All of our neighbors are either newlyweds, just had a baby or retired so it’s super sweet! And we are 2 minutes from anything and everything you’d ever need in Fort Worth. But it’s funny the things you appreciate when you have an old house. We don’t have a connected driveway [none of the homes in our neighborhood really do] and so each time it rains and I have to get in my car I call my mom and say, “Mom! I miss having a driveway connected to a garage so much! I miss just walking from a home into a garage. Do you know how good you have it?!” She laughs because she and my dad have always lived in newer homes and never done the old home route. So to her she is like, “Yes, Katey. This is how normal people live.” haha! My mom’s best friend is our realtor so I always say, “Okay, so in our house with kids here will be the wish list:

1. White Kitchen

2. A garage

It’s the little things!
