As soon as I got pregnant I started to get aversions to food and smells. As a girl who constantly has 10 candles burning in her home at all times this meant I was getting rid of candles left and right. I typically am drawn to really sweet scents, think caramel, vanilla, sugar. However, my first aversion [as luck would have it!] was actually sugar. If anyone ate a sweet around me I was running to the bathroom! So my neighbor is so sweet and I actually brought her over all my candles because I just couldn’t keep them in the house. I remember my Nana was in town and my entire family wanted to go get ice cream and I sat at the table while they all ate their favorite flavors and I just kept sniffing the back of my arm so I wouldn’t have to smell it! haha!
I went without candles for a few weeks, but working from home I like to keep things warm and cozy and candles do just that! So I thought I’d try to find a nice, clean, summer scent. Something bright, a little sweet to stay true to my favorites but nothing overpowering.
I’ve shared before but our car wash is just about the bougie-est thing I’ve ever step foot in. The car washes are normal prices, but they sell luxury candles, bath products, gifts even wine! It’s like a boutique where while you shop you get a car wash. They sell Votivo candles so I sniffed them all- which is a VERY dangerous game if you are pregnant I might add! I found one I really loved: Clean Crisp White.
I only purchased one because I wasn’t sure how it would burn but it was perfect and I just kept moving it into whatever room I was working in at the time. They recently reached out to do a giveaway with my readers and I was so excited and had to share with them how they were the candles I was using while pregnant!
In honor of the Olympics in Rio, they have a new candle inspired by Brazil: Caipirinha Lime. It smells zesty [which is great because I crave citrus haha!], clean and sweet enough for summer. But I had to get creative because sometimes I think the two spots I was drawn to keeping candles were my coffee table and my kitchen counter. But to keep any smells of cooking at bay, I wanted to throw them in extra areas of our home.

I have such a sweet tooth and love any bath and body or fragrance in vanilla scents so I can’t imagine having an aversion to it while pregnant! That must be such an odd feeling! Entered the giveaway – always love finding new candles!

OMG, you brought back so many memories of when I was pregnant with my first! I had the EXACT aversion to anything sweet! I couldn’t even look at sugary foods or smell anything sweet without getting sick. Chick-fil-A lemonade was the PERFECT antidote! It was super tart and not sweet. And it was perfect for hot, summer days! 😉 I think I had a large one daily. Ha!!
